Remarks by District Governor Medico(地區總監致詞)
The first Rotary Club is the Rotary Club of Chicago, established in 1905.There are 36000 Rotary Clubs and about 1.2 million Rotary members in the world.In Taiwan we have around 950 Rotary Clubs and 34000 members. I served as president of the Rotary Club in 2011-12. At that time, I had an idea. As the current president, I wanted to visit the Rotary Club of Vancouver because I lived in Vancouver for three years before. Thereafter I visited many important Rotary clubs of long history, more than 100 years, including Rotary Club of London (1911), Rotary Club of Vancouver (1913), Rotary Club of Tokyo (1920), Rotary Club of Paris (1921), and Rotary Club of Sydney (1921) , altogether 80 Rotary clubs in 14 countries, which are the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, and Spain.Visiting Rotary clubs in different countries is a very wonderful and meaningful experience. Giving a talk at Rotary clubs’ meetings, introducing Taiwan and promoting Taiwan, not only can you make friends and enjoy delicious food, you can also broaden your knowledge and vision. By face-to-face conversations, you can learn about the regular meetings of the clubs in person; you can also go to the websites of the Rotary clubs to study the history, culture, activities and services of the clubs. If you have an idea, you must make it come true, and a miracle will happen. What is the miracle? The miracle is that I become a District Governor.Thank you.
